Publication Ethics
The Journal of Technology is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of ethics in publishing. We adhere to the guidelines and principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of our publication process. Below are the core ethical standards and practices upheld by the journal:
Responsibilities of Authors
-
Originality and Plagiarism:
Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. Proper citation of all sources and acknowledgment of contributions from others is required. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. -
Data Accuracy and Integrity:
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data is strictly prohibited. Authors should be prepared to provide the raw data for editorial review and make it publicly available if required. -
Authorship and Contribution:
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately. -
Conflict of Interest:
Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research should be disclosed. -
Corrections and Retractions:
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality:
Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents. They must not disclose or discuss the manuscript with others except as authorized by the editor. -
Objectivity and Fairness:
Reviews should be conducted objectively and fairly. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments. -
Acknowledgment of Sources:
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. They should also alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge. -
Conflict of Interest:
Reviewers should recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.
Responsibilities of Editors
-
Publication Decisions:
Editors are responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts submitted to the journal will be published. The decision should be based on the manuscript's importance, originality, and clarity, as well as the study’s relevance to the journal’s scope. Legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism should also be considered. -
Fair Play:
An editor must evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. -
Confidentiality:
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate. -
Conflict of Interest:
Editors should recuse themselves from processing manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
